Brand Strategy & Marketing
Where it began…
I fell in love with marketing and brand strategizing when I was little. I would stay up late, after everyone went to bed, and watch the shopping network.
Not the classiest marketing strategies, but I was captivated by the strategies used to move people to action:
• sometimes this was lowering a price by a single cent to make it feel less expensive
• other times it was bringing in a “real life” person to share their story with the product - tug on the heart strings.
And, in the middle of it all, was commercial after commercial. I was...still am ;) a sucker for a well-placed, strategic commercial.
How it’s going
My love for marketing was like a slow burn, the undercurrent of everything I did.
• I started my career in public relations roles, developing my understanding of people: what drove them, what crippled them, and what inspired them.
• I then stepped into design and creative roles: it was here that I specialized in expanding brands’ voices. Whether it was launching social media presences, introducing video production, or clarifying a brand’s voice - I was energized by adding momentum to worthwhile brands.
• And then I was given my biggest challenge yet: brand revitalization. A brand had just introduced a rebranding effort and it failed epically. I was brought on to help: rebuilding trust, clarifying the brand’s identity, and ultimately building new excitement around a legacy brand.
Worthwhile brands have amazing things to say, sometimes they just need a little help with how to say it. This can be in the form of:
• a revitalization campaign
• a merchandise launch
• social media expansion
• an energizing campaign
• or a well-placed mini-documentary
I’ve seen each of these work wonders to strengthen a brand’s voice, build their audience, and establish loyalty.
All it takes is innovation, creative thinking, strategic insights, and an understanding of who you are and who your audience is.
